To serve the high travel demand on the occasion of the Lunar New Year Festival, the national air carrier Vietnam Airlines will add more 800 one-way flights with 136,000 on 22 domestic and international routes from January 26 to February 24, 2016. The addition will raise the total seats during the occasion to 2.1 million, 7% more than usual and 18% up year-on-year.

15 added domestic routes are Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Pleiku, Da Nang, Dong Hoi; Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang, Hai Phong, Vinh, Hue, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Buon Me Thuot, Pleiku and Dong Hoi. 7 added international ones are Can Tho – Taipei, Kaoshihung (Taiwan), Ho Chi Minh City – Taipei, Kaoshihung (Taiwan), Hong Kong (China), Fukuoka and Osaka (Japan).
