As the number of passengers going through Cam Ranh International Airport is rising sharply, the Ministry of Transport has directed Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company to build up an international terminal promptly to satisfy 4 million passengers in 2025.

 

In recent years, the number of passengers through Cam Ranh International Airport has made sharp increase. In 2014, the number was more than 2.06 million passengers, including nearly 600,000 international ones. In 2015, the figure was more than 2.7 million, including 900,000 international ones. In the first three months of 2016, the number of passengers through the airport was over 1 million, 50% of whom were international ones.

According to Phan Le Hoan, General Director of Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company, basing on the number of passengers increasing in reality and forecast to reach 2.5 million in 2020, 4 million in 2025 and 6 million in 2030. Accordingly, it’s necessary to build a new international terminal to satisfy 4 million in 2025.

 

Initially, aviation equipment to serve 2.5 million passengers will be installed. Full of equipment will installed later and then it can serve up to 6 million passengers. With the planned area, the new terminal can be extended to two sides to serve 8 million passengers after 2030.

  

The total area for the project is 178,000 sq.m.. Total investment in the project is nearly VND4,000 billion. Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company confirms that the new terminal will be invested according to standards of a modern international terminal with services qualified for regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization, the International Air Transport Association and stardard set to design aviation terminals of Vietnam. The terminal is designed by two companies from Germany and Singapore that have carried out many modern aviation terminals in Vietnam.
