From 2006, the provincial People’s Committee instructed about listing prices and selling at listed prices to tourist businesses. In 2009, the provincial People’s Committee put tourist services into items whose prices have to be stabilized, therefore, tourist businesses had to register, post prices and sell services at posted prices. At that time, when the government and the Ministry of Finance hadn’t issued specific regulations on tourists services, the province’ above regulations partly stabilized tourist service prices, especially on peak times such as festivals and holidays.
From 2011 to now, the provincial Department of Finance has consulted the provincial People’s Committee to enforce many documents on managing tourist service prices closely. From 2011 to 2015, the Department of Finance received 4,421 files declaring prices of accommodation businesses.
“Our hotel has 1,001 rooms with prices from VND4 – 8 million/room. Registering prices as well as implementing regulations on prices between the hotel and the State managing has been done well. Our prices are posted at the reception, rooms and restaurants”, said Nguyen Kim Cuong, deputy director of Havana Nha Trang Hotel.
In 2015, the provincial People’s Committee also launched specific regulations on managing travel service prices to prevent arbitrary increase in tour prices and unhealthy competition.
Besides, the local authorities have made strict inspection on tourism, especially on peak time like festivals and holidays. From 2011 to 2015, 880 inspections on services were done. 157 violations were fined with VND1.2 billion totally.
According to Standing Vice-chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, to manage tourist service prices better, in the time to come, the province will step up popularizing related policies and laws, inspecting on price declare, post and sales, and building price managing softwares.
