A national conference themed “Training high-quality human resources for tourism – Situation and Solutions” was organized in Nha Trang by The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on October 11. Attending the conference were 90 representatives from the Training Department (under The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), colleges, universities training tourism nationwide, the concerned authority and some tourist businesses in Khanh Hoa Province.
At the event, the attenders said about criteria to rate high-quality tourism human resource, situation and solutions to the training, etc. They also suggested many solutions to improve high-quality tourism human resource in the country.
According to statistics of the National Administration of Tourism, Vietnam now has more than 2.2 million people working in tourism, including about 600,000 direct laborers. The national Institute for Tourism Development Research forecasts that, in the period of 2016 – 2020, the country needs about 870,000 direct laborers for tourism. Each year, the country’s tourism needs more 40,000 laborers.
