Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa welcomes a large number of domestic visitors from the Mekong Delta. The cooperation in tourism is expected to help Khanh Hoa Provinces as well as the Southwest provinces to develop together.
Recently, the provincial Department of Tourism, Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association and 60 tourism businesses had a meeting with tourism leaderships and tourism businesses in 7 provinces of the Mekong Delta, namely An Giang, Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu and Can Tho.
According to Phan Thanh Truc, deputy director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Tourism, visitors from the Mekong Delta made up 15% out of 3 million domestic visitors to Khanh Hoa in the first eight months of the year. In addition, there are a large number of visitors from the Mekong Delta coming to Nha Trang by tours from Ho Chi Minh City. Cooperation with provices in the Mekong Delta to develop tourism is neccesary as it can help to raise the number of domestic visitors as well as forward taking tourists from Khanh Hoa Province to the Southwest provinces.
Pham The Trieu, deputy director of An Giang Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that tourism of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa has developed for a long time with many tourist products at international rank and more and more visitors coming the coastal city. Meanwhile, tourism of the Mekong Delta provinces are still looking for way to develop. The meeting of tourism makers in the seven Southwest provinces with those in Khanh Hoa Province is expected to find positive changes.

Tran Minh Duc, deputy director of Long Phu Joint Stock Company, revealed that his company receives a large number of visitors from the Mekong Delta and takes travellers from Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa to provinces in the region. For an effective cooperation, tourism businesses of the two sides need to ensure quality of their tourist products. Exchange activities among the tourism businesses should be organized more.
In the view of Sonny Son, general manager of Liberty Central Nha Trang Hotel, it’s necessary to have a methodical and widespread PR campaign to promote Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa tourism in the Mekong Delta as well as the Mekong Delta’s tourism in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa. In the same view, Nguyen Thi Xuan Thao, deputy director of An Tin Travel Can Tho said that Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa is a popular destination which travel companies in the Southwest provinces often take tourists to but few tourists from Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa travel to the Southwest provinces. Therefore, tourism businesses in the Southwest desire to have more opportunities to do marketing for local tourist products to Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa market.
According to Ha Thi Dam Phuong, representative of Vietnam Airlines in Nha Trang, the national flag air carrier plans to open Cam Ranh – Phu Quoc air route in early 2018 and Cam Ranh – Can Tho air route after that. Therefore, Vietnam Airlines expects better tourism cooperation between businesses of Khanh Hoa and those of the Southwest provinces.
Also at the meeting, An Giang Tourimex signed memoranda with two big companies of Khanh Hoa, those are Long Phu Tourist Company and Sanest Tourist Co., Ltd.
Hopefully, with the joining of touism makers, the cooperation for tourism development between Khanh Hoa Province and the Southwest provinces will achieve good results.
