Khanh Hoa tourism has made a lot of efforts to improve services for cruise tourists. Then, the number of international tourists from cruise ships to the province has risen.
Rise in cruise tourists
In recent years, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa has become a favorite destination of cruise tourists to Vietnam. The number of cruise ships as well as cruise passengers has increased year by year. According to the statistics of Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, the province welcomed 49 international cruise ships with 53,000 passengers in 2015, 54 ships with 93,800 passengers in 2016, and 72 ships with 53,000 passengers in 2017.
Particularly, Cam Ranh International Port in 2017 received 11 cruise ships with 17,800 tourists. Cam Ranh International Port, which can receive 110,000DWT cargo ships and 100,000GT passenger ships, enables big ships to land, attracting more ships to the province. In near future, when Nha Trang Port becomes a tourist port, welcoming cruise ships will be more advantageous.
The tourism department also has coordinated with Nha Trang Port Authority, Khanh Hoa Province Police, Khanh Hoa Border Defence Force, Nha Trang People’s Committee, etc to make welcoming cruise tourists better like ensuring order and security, preventing vendors and beggars from bothering tourists, etc. Tourist products for cruise tourists have also been invested more. Therefore, more and more international cruise ships register to drop in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa. 38 cruise ships have been registered to come to the province in 2018. The figure may rise more.
Improving services’ quality
According to the planning to develop ports in Vietnam till 2030, Nha Trang Port will be built to become a modern tourist port, which will be able to receive over-100,000GT international cruise ships.
Tourists from cruise ships often take tours to some destinations around Nha Trang like Nha Trang Cathedral, Long Son Pagoda, Ponagar Temple, Chong Rock, Cai River, trade villages, ancient houses, etc. and enjoy some local tourist products and food.
According to Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, deputy director of the provincial Department of Tourism, the local tourism always pays attention to improve services’ quality. In 2018, the department will assess some tourist destinations in Nha Trang to find out some solutions to improve services’ quality…
The efforts of tourist businesses as well as the local tourism department are expected to partly impulse the development of welcoming and serving cruise tourists in Nha Trang.
