Young boss of Skylight

“Call me TK Nha Trang”, Skylight’s boss said. TK’s parents were from Hanoi and settled down in America a long time ago. TK and his younger brother were born in America. He could speak some Vietnamese sentences. He hadn’t thought to settle down in Vietnam till he came to Nha Trang one day in 2009. “It was only a normal trip, but I was surprised at the beauty of this beach city at the first time. At that time, Nha Trang hadn’t many high-rise building like now”, TK started his story.

“Mr Binh”, TK calls his father that, was the person who started TK the idea to make Havana’s rooftop become Skylight like now. In 2015, Mr Binh asked TK to return to Vietnam. He reminded, “Dad took me to Havana’s rooftop at the height of 151 meters. It was the first time I saw Nha Trang from the above. It was amazing. When Dad asked me could I set up this place to become an interesting entertainment place, I had ideas in my mind. Why not? Nothing is more wonderful than sitting here to contemplate the sea and the overall city in a 360° view.”

Then, he decided to leave America where he had a stable job and good life to return to Vietnam. He did his best to set up Havana’s rooftop to become an interesting and unique club in Nha Trang. It has restaurant, bar, swimming pool and green space like a park. Especially, it features a glass-covered skywalk which overlooks the sea and Nha Trang City.

Over three years, Skylight Nha Trang has become an attractive destination, especially to young people. TK has also developed his company firmly with a staff of nearly 150. Skylight has become one of must-visit places in many tours.

TK said that Skylight is his aerial dream. “A beautiful land is not enough to keep somebody. It needs an opportunity. I believe in it. Nha Trang has given me opportunities to carry out dreams of my youth”, the man, born in 1983, shared. TK’s younger brother also returned to Vietnam after graduate and settled down here. He also realized his love for Nha Trang like his old brother, TK.

Interesting experience

If you see TK at Skylight, you may think that he’s a staff member. He says “Hi” to every guest he meets, ask how they feel, how the drinks and food are, etc. Even he does cleaning with his staff. Sharing with staff is TK’s working manner. He joked that it has made his Vietnamese better. Actually, thanks to TK, the staff can learn soft skills and work in an active, creative environment.

Thoai and Chi, two members of Skylight staff had interesting stories. Thoai used to be a street magician in Nha Trang. Two years ago, by chance, TK met Thoai on a street when he was performing. Thoai told TK that he was fond of this job but his income wasn’t good. Immediately, TK took Thoai to Skylight to perform magic items at night. Now, Thoai has become a familiar face at Skylight. Every night, he makes guests very surprised by his skillful performance with cards. Now Thoai has better income and he can speak English with foreigners. He has changed a lot.

Chi used to be a person making up drinks normally. With the encourgement and support of TK, Chi tried to take the national competition for bartenders and named in Top 10. Chi is a highly-appreciated bartender now. Chi said that if she hadn’t met TK, she wouldn’t have carried out her dream. Not only Thoai and Chi, some other young people have been encouraged by TK to try. His 150 staff is a young and energic team.  

TK revealed that Skylight receives a lot of guests who are tourists taken to by tour companies and receives a lot of good feedbacks from them. Foreign tourists are excited to contemplate the panorama of Nha Trang beach city from the rooftop of a 45-floor building and enjoy the atmosphere here. TK hopes Skylight is a place not only for the youth but for families and friends. It’s also very interesting to enjoy tea and delicious food at Skylight.
