In recent time, the number of Korean tourists to Vietnam as well as Khanh Hoa Province has risen sharply. Some airlines have opened direct flights from Seoul to Khanh Hoa.
According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, the country received about 5.5 million foreign visitors in the first four months 2018. 1.17 million of whom were Korean, a 67% increase year-on-year. The number of Korean tourists to Vietnam in 2018 is expected to be 3.4 – 3.5 million. Therefore, it’s possible to say that Korea is one of main tourist market of Vietnam.
In the first three months of the year, Khanh Hoa Province welcomed 13,847 Korean tourists (a 14% rise year-on-year), following Chinese tourists and Russian tourists. The growth is owning to the tourism promotion and marketing of the tourism department as well as businesses, and direct air routes from Seoul to Cam Ranh International Airport. The lastest route is by Vietnam Airlines with 4 flights/week, opened from March 25. Before that, Vietjet, Korea Air, Jeju Air and Hahn Air have opened direct air routes connecting Khanh Hoa Province and Seoul.

Nguyen Van Thanh, Standing Vice-chairman of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Assiociation, said that Korean travel partners highly appreciated good infrastructures, beautiful beaches, abundant food and friendly people in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa. Direct air routes connecting Seoul and Khanh Hoa is an opportunity for Khanh Hoa to attract Korean tourists.
According to Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Vice-chairwoman of the provincial Department of Tourism, in 2017, the department and some tourism businesses in the province jointly welcomed some Korean travel firms and airlines to survey tourist products and services in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa. Implementing Program to develop tourism in 2018 and the following years, the provincial Department of Tourism is making a marketing project for Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa tourism, deversify international tourists to the province, including Korean tourists.
