Training foreign languages as well as professional skills and standardizing narration contents are things to improve the quality of narrators in Ponagar Temple and Chong Rock, two destinations managed by Khanh Hoa Province Monument Conservation Center.
According to Nguyen Tuan Dung, the provincial Monument Conservation Center, Chong Rock and Ponagar Temple have a team of 12 narrators who graduated from social sciences or foreign languages. Since 2016, all the team have been qualified for professional narration. As the number of Chinese visitors to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa rose sharply, the provincial Monument Conservation Center had measures to improve foreign languages for narrators. Crash courses in Chinese and Russian were given to the narrators. “After three courses, most of the team can introduce about the destinations for visitors in Chinese and Russian. Now, they can narrate about Chong Rock and Ponagar Temple in 4 languages, including English, French, Russian and Chinese. “In the time to come, narrators may be taught Korean”, said Nguyen Tuan Dung.

Professional knowledge of the narrators has been improved. Monthly, they attend a seminar with different themes like Cham temples, Hinduism, legends, Cham architecture and sculpture…The narrators have more knowledge to apply in narration for visitors.
Besides, the center tests narrators each year. Basing on the result, the center will have suitable training. The center has set up standard narration contents about Ponagar Temple and Chong Rock. The narrators bases on them but can make them more interesting in their ways. Beside two destinations Ponagar Temple and Chong Rock, the team narrate about 14 other national-level monuments in the province as requested.
Figures from the Tourism Service Office said that the team of narrators have served thousands of visitors, including a number of foreigners and left them good impression. It’s owning to efforts of the center to improve the team of narrators.
