Agritourism is a contribution to economic development, reducing the distance between urban areas and rural areas. In Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Province, agriculture is potential.
Khanh Hoa Province is expected to welcome about 6.5 million tourists in 2018, including 2.8 foreign tourists. Every day, hotels and resorts in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa consumes a large amount of vegetable to serve tourists. However, most of the farm products are from other places, mostly from Lam Dong Province. It’s possible to say that agriculture of Khanh Hoa Province hasn’t taken advantages to develop or the relationship between tourism and agriculture of the province hasn’t mutual.
At a meeting with Dien Khanh District in 2016, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong suggested the tendency of high-technology agriculture and handicrafts for tourism. Recently, at a meeting with the provincial Department of Tourism, Nguyen Tan Tuan, the Deputy Secretary of the provincial Standing Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, also reminded the connection between tourism and agriculture and development of agriculture as a subdiary product beside sea and island tourism.

The outskirts of Nha Trang as well as Dien Khanh and Cam Lam are possible to build farms growing vegetable and fruits to supply for tourists in Nha Trang. Such models are also for agritourism. In present, some locals make use of their gardens to serve tourists. For example, tourists can visit orchestra and enjoy fruits in homestay Vuon Xoai in Cam Hai Tay Commune, Cam Lam; experience picking up vegetable and enjoy rural dishes in Memento tourist area…But there are few such places.
At the sixth session of the province People’s Council, Chairman of the provincial Farmers’ Association Nguyen Trong Trung proposed the provincial People’s Committee to direct the tourism department and the agriculture department to call investment in high-technology agriculture and agriculture. In the resolution for the term 2018 – 2023, the Farmers’ Association has set a target to build 1 – 2 agritourism models. In the time to come, the association will cooperate with cooperatives and farms near Nha Trang to make experimental agriculture models.
In the investment promotion plan in Japan, Khanh Hoa Province will call Japanese investors to implement projects to develop high-technology agriculture for tourism as well as create premises to develop agriculture in the province.
