Vietravel Nha Trang so far this year has taken 5,400 tourists abroad, (rising by 171% year-on-year), including 850 flying directly from Cam Ranh International Airport. Similarly, the number of outbound travelers of Saigontourist – Nha Trang Branch also has risen sharply over previous years. “Direct flights from Cam Ranh to Korea, Malaysia, etc. not only save moving time for tourists but also cost the less because of less fees for transit. So, more tourists have taken these tours. Big travel companies offer lower prices for tours departing from Nha Trang than those from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi”, explained Huynh Thi Kim Thoa, Outbound manager of Saigontourist – Nha Trang Branch.
Big travel companies in Nha Trang like Vietravel Nha Trang, Saigontourist and Long Phu Tourist have tours to Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Malaysia – Singapore. According to Le Thi Khanh Hoa, PR manager of Vietravel Nha Trang, the branch operates 5 – 6 tours to Korea and 2 tours to Malaysia, flying from Cam Ranh. The number of outbound tours of Saigontourist is similar.

Beside tours flying abroad directly from Cam Ranh International Airport, local people in Khanh Hoa also buy tours to Japan, the US, China, etc, departing from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Director of Vietravel Nha Trang Doan Hai Quan revealed that the branch plans to take tourists from Khanh Hoa Province flying directly to Japan by charter flights. Other companies are working with partners to operate direct tours to Japan.
The number of people taking local tours also has risen sharply. Phan Dinh Thao, director of Saigontourist Nha Trang, their tourists of local tours have increased by 15% for two recent years. Living of local people has been improved and the traffic has been more convenient; therefore, more and more people do traveling. Therefore, beside Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang, airlines have opened air routes connecting Khanh Hoa Province with Nguyen An Province, Thanh Hoa Province and Hai Phong City. Recently, Vietjet has opened Cam Ranh - Da Nang air route with one flight a day. At present, there are two flights on Cam Ranh - Da Nang air route. This facilitates operating tours between Nha Trang and Da Nang.
According to Nguyen Van Thanh, Standing Vice-chairman of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, travel firms are intensifying both inbound tours and outbound tours. Potentials in exploiting direct international air routes from Cam Ranh International Airport abroad and to tourist centers in the country is very big. The tourism of Khanh Hoa Province is promoting to Japan. In the time to come, travel companies in the province will open direct tours from Khanh Hoa to Japan. Then, local people in Khanh Hoa have more chances to travel abroad.
