Owning advantages of maritime, many beauty spots and one of the most beautiful bay in the world, Nha Trang is considered as one of the most interesting destination for cruise ships. In 2018, 66 international cruise ships came to Nha Trang Port and Cam Ranh Port. 120,000 tourists from them went shore to take visit, increasing by 17.5% over that in 2017. So far this year, many international cruise ships dropped in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa. During the lunar new year festival, 4 ships, namedly Star Legend, Diamond Princess, Pacific Venus and Celebrity landed Nha Trang Port, putting about 5,600 passengers to shore. In January 2019, Khanh Hoa received 14,000 cruise tourists.

Cruise tourists visited famous destinations like Nha Trang Cathedral, Long Son Pagoda, Ponagar Temple, Chong Rock, I-resort, etc. They also took tour on Cai River, visited ancient houses, watched pottery making, mat weaving, etc. Coming to Nha Trang the first time by a cruise ship, Jullie Bernard, from France, said that, “I had heard about cyclo of Vietnam before. Now, I feel very exciting when take city tour by this vehicle. On the way, we dropped in Long Son Pagoda, Dam Market, etc.”
According to Phan Dinh Thao, director of Saigontourist in Nha Trang, Nha Trang is a favorite destination of cruise ships. Many ships have dropped in Nha Trang for many times. Especially, European tourists have come to Nha Trang again after a long time only Chinese tourists came.
According to experts in tourism, Nha Trang has big potentials to receive international cruise tourists. To attract more cruise ships, Nha Trang Port need to be upgraded to become a port specializing for tourism. As the planning to develop sea port in Vietnam till 2020 and view to 2030 ratified by the Prime Minister, Nha Trang Port will become a tourist port. Besides, Vietnam tourism in general and Khanh Hoa tourism in specific need take part in internation cruise tourism fairs, welcome famtrip cruise tourists, supply information about big events of the country to carriers, spend expenditure on promotion for cruise tourism in foreign countries, build trademark of cruise tourism, etc.
