Culinary elites gather in National Food Festival – Nha Trang 2019

National Food Festival 2019, jointly organized by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee from 18 to 21, October, has presented rich and diverse Vietnamese cuisine. It featured 60 boosts from many provinces and cities across the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Nguyen Trung Khanh - General Director of the National Administration of Tourism emphasized that cuisine is a very important field in tourism. Along with the beautiful natural scenery and rich cultural identity, Vietnam tourism also attracts domestic and international visitors by diverse cuisine. Most recently, on October 12, at the 26th World Tourism Awards in Asia and Oceania, Vietnam was honored to be awarded four awards, including the award of "Asia's Leading Culinary Destination 2019", which is an honor and recognition for Vietnamese cuisine in particular and Vietnam tourism in general.
 
 
“The national food festival held in Nha Trang this time is an opportunity to honor, promote and introduce unique features of Vietnamese cuisine to domestic and international visitors. This is also an opportunity for the chefs of restaurants and hotels to emulate and learn to improve their skills. It’s an opportunity for localities to develop tourism... ”, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh said.

Coming to the festival, guests seemed to be lost in a food street by Nha Trang Bay. There, people enjoyed typical dishes of the three regions the North, the Central, and the South with unique and diverse products of localities on good-looking display. At the entrance of the food street, guests came across the food stall with famous dishes of Hanoi such as Pho, Tay Ho shrimp cake. Next was the Bao Thanh stall of Hue with the famous traditional beef noodle. Gia Lai's stall was ebulient with music of gongs. It had famous dishes of the Central Highlands like grilled chicken with rice, dried beef, grilled pork…
 
 
Binh Quoi Tourist Village (belonging to Saigontourist) introduced tourists delicacies like rolls, lotus spring rolls, grilled snails with fish sauce, grilled ribs, pancakes, fried sticky rice, Sa Dec noodle…The stall also had a collection of typical sweet soup of the South. Besides, artisans in Binh Quoi Tourist Village also showed their talents and displayed works of trimmed vegetables and fruits with the theme of Vietnamese food.
 
 
Khanh Hoa Province had 20 food and drink stalls of 9 businesses participating this festival. Vinpearl Nha Trang's chefs presented rolls while Evason Ana Mandara's chefs brought the festival beef with vegetable and papaya salad. Both stalls of Vinpearl and Evason Ana Mandara were built bamboo and leaves, which are friendly with the environment and remind the traditional thatched roof of Vietnamese culture. “This is a great opportunity for our restaurant to introduce domestic and international visitors about our services. We hope that through this festival, reputation of our resort will be spread more”, said Le Thi Thanh Thuy - chef of Evason Ana Mandara.
 
 
Vietnamese cuisine. In addition to the food stalls, many units also bring to the festival products such as brocade paintings (Lao Cai), garlic Ly Son (Quang Ngai), Cau Dat coffee, honey, cordyceps, O Long tea (Lam Dong) ... Unfortunately, the days of the festival, the weather in Nha Trang rained so the number of visitors to the festival was not as crowded as expected. It is said that the festival is held quite far from the center also makes many international tourists do not have the opportunity to enjoy the unique dishes of Vietnamese cuisine.
 
 
The national food festival 2019 gathered a lot of talented chefs and a lot of original dishes of Vietnamese cuisine. Beside food stalls, the festival also had some other local products like brocade pictures of Lao Cai Province, Ly Son garlic of Quang Ngai Province, Cau Dat coffee, honey, O Long tea of Lam Dong Province…
