Green tourism - inevitable trend

Green tourism is a trend of the world. In Khanh Hoa, green tourism is gradually spreading with the restriction of using plastic products and developing eco-tourism.

 

Reducing using plastic

 

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism: “Currently, in Vietnam, the Party's and the State's strategic policies and planning for tourism development orientations all aim to develop professionally and sustainbly, develop tourism in association with protecting the natural environment, preserving and promoting the national cultural values. Accordingly, Khanh Hoa tourism has propagandized and encouraged businesses to develop green tourism, minimizing impacts on the environment. The movement of developing green tourism is gradually spreading."

One of the pioneers going green is Evason Ana Mandara Resort Nha Trang. Along with the green space created, the resort's services are aimed at friendliness with the environment, minimizing the use of plastic products by rattan, bamboo and wood. According to Nguyen Van Hoa - CEO of Evason Ana Mandara Nha Trang, since 2005, the resort has been equipped with a system of producing bottled water. By doing this, every year, the resort reduces about 100,000 disposable plastic bottles. In 2016, the resort began replacing disposable plastic straws with bamboo straws and paper straws, reducing more than 15,000 plastic straws each year. Besides, by proactively supplying paper bags and cloth bags to guests, each year the resort also limits thousands of plastic bags. In August 2019, Evason Ana Mandara Resort Nha Trang won the first prize in the contest "Ideas against plastic waste in accommodation" organized by the provincial Department of Tourism. Along with limiting the use of plastic, the resort also recommends that suppliers pack products with eco-friendly materials or reusable items for delivery. In particular, the resort is aiming to not using plastic by 2022.

 

After the Department of Tourism launched the movement "say no to plastic", many resorts such as Hon Tam, Champa Island, Fusion and The Anam also focused on limiting the use of plastic and protecting environment. In particular, Champa Island Nha Trang has built a plastic waste park to propaganize and raise awareness of environmental protection for tourists. Hon Tam Resort has also responded to the fight against plastic waste by providing cloth bags instead of plastic bags for guests to store dirty items. “Sustainable tourism has become a principle, a common trend in developing tourism of every country in the world. Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa cannot stand outside this trend, ” said Pham Minh Nhut - Director of Nha Trang Hon Tam Sea Joint Stock Company.

 

 

 

 

Developing ecotourism

 

One of the green tourism trends is developing eco-tourism. In Khanh Hoa, there are more and more ecotourism destinations. Besides Yang Bay Tourist Park, Monkey Island ..., in 2019, eco-tourism destinations like Galina Lake View, Ba Ho, Nha Trang Submarine ... has also come into operation and focused on environmental protection.

 

Truong Tuan Anh - General Manager of Ba Ho ecotourism site said that ecotourism is an inevitable and long-term trend. Therefore, Ba Ho has tried to preserve the wild nature. Visitors to Ba Ho can experience green tourism products such as walkways along streams, tree-top houses, high-class bungalows with roofs by natural grass, yoga retreat model (combining tourism and outdoor yoga)... Thereby, visitors know more about the land of Ba Ho as well as values of natural ecosystems. In the coming time, Ba Ho will continue to develop some activities such as coordinating with educational units to organize programs related to sightseeing and learning about natural ecosystems, thereby helping students have basic and practical knowledge about the nature, thereby forming the love and awareness of protection of nature and the environment.
