Russia is the second largest tourist market of Khanh Hoa tourism (after China). In 2019, Khanh Hoa welcomed nearly 463,000 Russian visitors, an increase of 4.5% compared to 2018; accounting for 71.6% of total Russian visitors to Vietnam (646,524 visitors). Recently, due to the influence of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Chinese tourist flow almost stopped, Korean visitors began to decline, but the number of Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa remained stable. Currently, Cam Ranh International Airport still receives 25 flights/week from Russia. Travel agencies specializing in Russian tourists use large aircrafts such as Boieng 777, 767 to transport passengers, with flights carrying up to 520 passengers... The stability of Russian tourists has helped Khanh Hoa tourism reduce damage because of the disease.

According to Nguyen Huong Thuy - representative of Anex Vietnam Travel and Trading Company Limited (Anex Vietnam), in January, the company brought 36,944 Russian visitors to Vietnam. Only in February, 34,467 Russian visitors have visited Vietnam, a slight increase. However, in March, the number of Russian tourists registering to stay in Vietnam has increased to 37,253 visitors. In the first quarter of 2020, Anex Vietnam will bring over 108,000 Russian visitors to Vietnam, most of whom will stay in Khanh Hoa. Currently, the company uses more than 6,200 rooms a day to serve tourists from Russia. Along with Anex Vietnam, the number of Russian tourists brought by Pegas Mirs Vietnam Travel Co., Ltd. to Khanh Hoa is quite stable.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism said, in January, Cam Ranh International Airport welcomed 54,000 Russian tourists, including 48,000 passengers staying in Khanh Hoa, the rest to Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan. In February, 52,000 Russian tourists will fly to Cam Ranh, 46,000 of whom will stay in Khanh Hoa. Currently, the number of flights from Russia to Cam Ranh is still stable, but the number of passengers has decreased slightly over that in January.
Russian customers choose Khanh Hoa Province as a destination because the province has many beautiful beaches, warm climate all year round, lower consumer prices than many places in Southeast Asia and in the world. Flying time from Russia to Khanh Hoa is equivalent to that to Thailand (the most attractive destinations in Asia to Russian). Besides, the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Russian, and the friendliness of the Vietnamese people also support the choice of Russian tourists. The WHO's appreciation for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic in Vietnam is also a very positive thing to keep and attract Russian visitors. “In the current situation, tourism businesses in general and accommodation establishments in particular need to have promotions to attract more Russian visitors. At the same time, hotels and travel businesses need do good propaganda to make guests feel secure”, said Ms Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism.
