Vietjet Air announced on March 4 that Vietjet Air would temporarily suspend all of its flights to South Korea from March 7 due to Covid-19.
Earlier, Vietjet Air operated 11 air routes with 480 flights/ month between Vietnam and South Korea, including 2 routes Incheon-Cam Ranh and Busan-Cam Ranh connecting Khanh Hoa.
According to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, South Korea accounted for 23.1% of international travelers of airlines of Vietnam. Before the Covid-19 outbreak, 4 airlines of Vietnam, namely Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways and Jetstar Pacific Airlines operated on 14 routes from Cam Ranh, Da Lat, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Busan, Incheon, Jeollanam-do, Gangwon, Cheongwon-gu and Daegu (South Korea) with 182 flights/ week/ round. 8 South Korean airlines served flights on 10 air routes from 4 cities, namely Busan, Incheon, Daegu and Jeollanam-do to Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with 381 flights/week/round.
4 airlines of Vietnam have announced to suspend flights to South Korea, from March 5 and February 26 for Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways respectively. Jetstar Pacific suspends charter flights to South Korea in March and April. Asiana Airlines will also halt many flights from Incheon to Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang until at least mid-March.
