Siberia Airlines will carry Russian tourists stranded amid COVID-19 back home, Novosibirsk, Russia from Cam Ranh Airport on April 27, according to Le Van Nghia, Chief Representative of Siberia Airlines in Vietnam.
Siberia Airlines will use A321 Neo aircraft with a capacity of 200 passengers, departing from Cam Ranh Airport at 9.5am (local time). More than 100 passengers have registered for the flight so far. The tourists are stranded in Khanh Hoa, Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan), Phu Quoc (Kien Giang), etc. because of flight suspension between Vietnam and Russia amid COVID-19. Russian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will provide support for travel to Khanh Hoa and exit procedures. Earlier, on April 20, Siberia Airlines carried 149 Russian tourists from Cam Ranh to Novosibirsk. Another Siberia Airlines flight is expected to bring Russian tourists back home to Vladivostok from Cam Ranh.
Russia is the 2nd largest tourism market, after China, in Khanh Hoa. In 2019, Khanh Hoa received nearly 463,000 Russian tourist arrivals, accounting for 71.6% of Russian tourists to Vietnam (646,524 tourist arrivals). In the first 3 months of 2020, Khanh Hoa received around 120,000 Russian tourist arrivals.
