In the last months of the year, Khanh Hoa Tourism is making efforts to gradually restore tourism activities. This is an opportunity to improve tourism culture, especially safety in tourism activities.

The Covid-19 epidemic has caused heavy losses in Khanh Hoa tourism. According to estimates of the Department of Tourism, in the first 9 months of 2020, the whole province only received more than 1 million tourists, equaling 18.5% over the same period in 2019; the total tourism revenue was more than 6,055.5 billion VND, equal to 21.5% compared to the same period in 2019. Responding to the second tourism stimulus program with the theme “Vietnam tourism is safe and attractive", the tourism industry of Khanh Hoa Province is implementing many solutions to restore domestic tourism. At the same time, the tourism prepares for the return of international visitors (depending on the Covid-19 epidemic control in the world). According to Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Tourism, the tourism of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa is in a very difficult situation, but the current context is an opportunity for tourism service businesses in the province to improve service quality as well as tourism culture. Only improving tourism culture and ensuring safety of tourism activities can restore tourism again.

Previously, with the overgrowth of the tourism, the big number of tourists and the big pressure, businesses sometimes did not serve tourists best. Safety in tourism activities is sometimes not given due attention. The Covid-19 has forced tourism establishments to reconsider, adjust and tighten management to ensure service quality and epidemic prevention for tourists as well as for businesses. According to Mr. Dang Manh Phuoc - CEO of Outbox Consulting Services and Destinations Management Co., Ltd., recent surveys on psychology and behavior of tourists after the epidemic show that safety is the first and highest requirement of visitors. Therefore, all actions to attract visitors to return should begin with meeting this requirement. This is also a decisive issue in terms of competitiveness to attract international visitors between destinations after the Covid 19 epidemic. Therefore, the tourism of Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular need to develop standards to ensure safety in tourism activities.

To improve tourism culture, the Department of Tourism has implemented a Code of Conduct in tourism activities in the province. Currently, the department is collecting opinions from other sectors on the development of draft guidelines on safety criteria in tourism activities (accommodation establishments, tourist sites ...) to prevent and fight Covid-19 epidemic, and contribute to improving tourism culture. “We see the implementation of safety standards in tourism not only to quickly resolve incidents during the pandemic, but it must be part of the tourism industry from now on, as the foundation for improving the tourism culture of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa ", Nguyen Thi Le Thanh expressed.
