In an interview with Khanh Hoa News about this, Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Tourism said:
Vietnam's tourism has grown rapidly over the past year,, contributing to the country's socio-economic development. However, besides the positive effects, tourism activities also have impacts on the environment. As a result, the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism assigned the National Tourism Administration to coordinate with the Khanh Hoa Province Department of Tourism to perform the task of "Mobilizing environmental protection in tourism activities" with a number of related activities to raise awareness about environmental protection in tourism activities, contributing to sustainable tourism development in Vietnam.
- What activities will the tourism industry organize in Nha Trang?
- Vietnam National Tourism Administration will organize launching ceremony of environmental protection on Nha Trang beach; organize bicycle parade with flags of propaganda on environmental protection in tourism after the launching ceremony; and organize propaganda on the mass media. At the same time, the Hotel Department (under the National Administration of Tourism) will host scientific seminar and exhibition on “Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, using environmentally friendly products in accommodation facilities and tourist areas”. It is expected that the workshop will be participated by about 130 delegates from the Hotel Department and the Department of Science - Technology and Environment (under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), tourism departments, tourism associations and tourism businesses in the provinces and cities of the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands, enterprises in environmental technology, etc.
