Vietnam tourism is becoming an important economic industry with significant impacts on other sectors and social life. The Political Bureau issued Resolution 08-NQ/TW dated January 16, 2017 on the development of tourism as a spearhead economic sector. In the 2015 - 2019, international visitor arrivals to Vietnam soared from 7.9 million to 18 million; domestic visitors from 57 million to 85 million with a total tourism turnover climbing from VND355,000 billion to 755,000 billion.

However, activities of tourists and communities have also caused negative impacts on tourism environment. Therefore, tourism environment protection is considered as a vital and urgent task for all levels and sectors, especially localities of tourism, contributing to promoting sustainable tourism growth.
