According to Nguyen Van My - Chairman of Cam Lap Commune People's Committee, the commune has a total area of 2,200ha, the terrain here is mainly hilly, the landscape is wild but charming.
At the end of 2020, the provincial Department of Tourism had a survey to build community tourism in Cam Lap commune. Through the survey, the Department of Tourism assessed that, in addition to the existing hotels, motels and tourist areas, local communities can build and provide accommodation and camping services near the beach. Besides sports and entertainment activities at sea and in the mountains, visitors can join local people in farming, fishing and aquaculture activities; learn about local culture, history and people here. Some households in the commune have also considered building and renovating, upgrading houses into homestays, buying boats, opening restaurants, etc. to serve tourists.
According to the implementation plan of the Tourism Action Program in Cam Ranh city in the period of 2021 - 2025 issued by the Cam Ranh City People's Committee, the city will encourage to build a community-based tourism development model in Cam Lap commune (except for Mui Hoi area). According to Luong Duc Hai - Secretary of the Cam Ranh City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee, depending on the needs of visitors, it is possible to organize many types of community tourism products such as homestay; visit beautiful sight-seeing points in the sea and mountains in Cam Ranh - Ninh Thuan bay by boat or by road; scuba diving; swimming and playing water sports; fishing with locals. In addition, it is possible to develop more climbing services; making handicrafts and souvenirs from local materials; organize rural markets, fairs, cultural exchanges, festivals featuring the local culture.
