The Tourism Conference 2021 themed “Vietnam’s Tourism, Recovery and Development” was held in Nghe An Province on the afternoon of December 25 by the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture and Education in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Nghe An Province.
The event was virtually connected with the National Assembly’s Office together with 19 cities and provinces. Member of the Politburo, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended and directed the conference; and Vice-Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam took part in the virtual meeting at the National Assembly’s Office. Present at the event in Khanh Hoa was Standing Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and Le Huu Tri, Vice-Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Khanh Hoa Province.
The conference was to assess Covid-19 impacts on tourism, opportunities and challenges arising from the pandemic together with suggesting solutions and support policies for businesses and residents to overcome difficulties and resume tourism; and long-term methods for sustainable tourism growth.
Earlier, in the morning, a discussion session on tourism recovery and development; policies, solutions and the world’s lessons to overcome Covid-19 crisis and boost tourism.
Reportedly, 2021 is the 2nd year Vietnam tourism has been severely impacted by Covid-19. In the first 10 months, the total tourism turnover was down by 45.42% compared with the same period last year. 90-95% of tour operations remained closed. The room occupancy rate was 5% annually. Most tourism staff were laid off, etc.
