China to resume tours to Vietnam as of Mar.15

According to the Administration of Tourism, Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had a working session with Peng Shituan, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam on March 8. The Chinese Cultural Counselor said that Vietnam is on a list of countries that China will conduct a pilot program of resuming group tours for the second phase.


Before Covid-19, China was the largest tourist market in Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular. In 2019, Vietnam welcomed 5.8 million Chinese tourists (accounting for 30% of international arrivals to Vietnam); and  Khanh Hoa welcomed 2.5 million Chinese visitors, making up by over 70% of international arrivals to Khanh Hoa. Flights from China to Khanh Hoa were halted over coronavirus. In early 2023, Khanh Hoa welcomed some charter flights from China to Vietnam.
