Khanh Hoa Province:
Efforts to attract Australian tourists

Khanh Hoa province's tourism is boosting promotion and marketing to attract Australian tourists. As planned, in October, the province will send a delegation to Sydney (Australia) to promote and connect tourists to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa.

Recently, travel company Zazen Travel took some Australian tourists to a mango garden tour in Cam Lam. Australian tourists are very interested in visiting mango gardens and exploring local culture. According to Christina Nguyen - Director of Zazen Travel Co., Ltd., with a population of more than 25 million people, Australia is a very potential tourist market for Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular. Australian guests stay for long periods of time and have high spending. However, currently, there aren’t many Australian tourists coming to Khanh Hoa because there is no direct flight from this country to Khanh Hoa.

According to Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of the Department of Tourism, the tourism industry is stepping up promotion to expand the tourist market from Australia. As planned, from October 17 to 21, the province will organize a working group to promote tourism in Sydney (Australia). It is expected that about 20 leading Sydney travel agencies will participate, learn about Khanh Hoa tourism, and discuss cooperation to bring Australian tourists to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. Australian tourists are very interested in relaxing as well as exploring nature and local culture. These are the strengths of Khanh Hoa tourism, so the provincial tourism industry is expected to attract Australian tourists in the near future.

Previously, in May and September 2023, famtrip groups of travel businesses in Australia visited Khanh Hoa. During the survey in early September, 15 travel agencies from Sydney and Melbourne (Australia) experienced tourism services at resorts of Alma and Ana Mandara Cam Ranh (Bai Dai, Cam Lam), tooked adventure tour at Kong Forest Park, did shopping at the city's commercial centers of Nha Trang, visit Samadhi spa of Asia Tourist... Denise Gebrael - Marketing Director of CVFR Company (famtrip leader of Australian travel companies) assessed that Khanh Hoa tourism has beautiful scenery, very good accommodation services, diverse cuisine..., which is very suitable for Australian tourists. However, Australian people do not know much about Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism, so it needs to be promoted more. Also on this trip, Australian travel businesses had a cooperation exchange session with Khanh Hoa tourism businesses. In particular, CVFR Company signed a memorandum of cooperation with Bamboo Airways and HTS International Co., Ltd. on organizing tours to bring Australian tourists to Vietnam, with a focus on Khanh Hoa.

Khanh Hoa has no direct flights to Australia. However, Denise Gebrael said that the flight route is not the deciding factor, but the important thing is the information and attractiveness of the destination. Australian tourists often travel for long periods of time, so Khanh Hoa tourism can rely on flights from Australia to Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Currently, Australian travel agencies are coordinating with HTS International Co., Ltd. to organize tours for Australian tourists to Vietnam via commercial flights connecting big cities of Australia with Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hanoi. Khanh Hoa may be a destination for Australian visitors to Vietnam. “The company and partners have planned to organize tours across Vietnam (14 days) and tours to the South - Central region and North - Central region (9 days). Australian tourists taking a tour through Vietnam or a tour in the South - Central region will come to Khanh Hoa. It is expected that these tours will be deployed from early 2024", Phan Dinh Thao - General Director of HTS International Co., Ltd. shared.

In 2019, Vietnam welcomed about 383,500 Australian visitors. Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the number of Australian visitors decreased sharply. The number of Australian visitors in 2022 was nearly 145,000. With the restoration of flight routes between major cities of Australia and Vietnam, the number of Australian tourists has grown again. According to statistics from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, in the first eight months of 2023, Vietnam welcomed nearly 252,000 Australian visitors, an increase of more than 92% over the same period in 2022.
