Nha Trang Tourist Cyclo Union contributes to building Nha Trang tourism image

At the end of December 2023, Nha Trang Tourist Cyclo Union (under the Nha Trang City Labor Confederation) was officially established with 264 union members. The union is a fair and safe working environment, contributing to building the image and brand of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism.

Nguyen Kinh (Ngoc Hiep ward, Nha Trang), who has worked as a cyclo driver for more than 40 years, said that many foreign tourists like walking around Nha Trang city by cyclo. When the Nha Trang Tourist Cyclo Union was established, he wrote an application to volunteer to join. The joiners aim to work together to build a fair, safe, friendly, and hospitable working environment.

Dao Van Hung (Phuoc Hoa ward, Nha Trang), another union member excitedly said: "Joining the union, we strictly comply with the laws and regulations. Currently, union members are supplied with hats and uniforms to build their image and create professionalism in the eyes of tourists."

Le Quang Nhat - Vice Chairman of Nha Trang City Labor Confederation, Chairman of Nha Trang Tourist Cyclo Union, said that after more than 2 months of surveying, there are more than 300 cyclos in the city operating to serve tourists. When the City Labor Federation connected and proposed establishing a union, the majority of workers agreed. The establishment of Nha Trang Tourist Cyclo Union aims to care for and protect the legitimate and legal rights of workers, while contributing to creating a fair and safe working environment. On that basis, we aim to build the Nha Trang tourism cyclo brand. In the coming time, the union will coordinate with the provincial tourism industry to organize training classes and equip skills for cyclo operators; improve behavioral culture, create friendliness and closeness to tourists, improve basic knowledge of foreign languages and cultures so that each cyclo driver’s like a tour guide, contributing to promoting Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism.

In addition, the union will coordinate with functional agencies to develop specific tours and pick-up and drop-off routes; build operating procedures, ensure fairness, and increase income for drivers; gradually build a tour itinerary and price and list it publicly to ensure transparency. Each union member pledges not to use cyclos with electric motors when transporting passengers. In addition to proactively equipping union members with skills, the union will gradually enhance the position of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism through serving tourists; create a hospitable and friendly image for tourists. Each union member learns basic knowledge about Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, tourist attractions, and historical relics to better the work.

According to Bui Dang Thanh - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Confederation, the establishment of Nha Trang Tourist Cyclo Union is very necessary to gather cyclo workers, aim to create a brand, and ensure benefits for union members. This is the third union in the informal labor group established by trade unions in the province.
