Wastewater treatment plant in northern Nha Trang City put into operation

Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has just given approval to the Provincial Development Project Management Board to put the wastewater treatment plant in northern Nha Trang City into trial operation for 3 months and official operation in October and build a plan for its sewer connection.

3-month trial operation

According to Nguyen Thanh Hien, Director of the Provincial Development Project Management Board, the construction of the wastewater treatment plant in northern Nha Trang City finished on June 30 and started its trial operation on July 9. This work item is under the Coastal Cities Environmental Sanitation Project (CCESP), Nha Trang Sub-Project.

The construction contributes to wastewater treatment for the northern area of ​​the city, including the 4 wards of Vinh Hoa, Vinh Hai, Vinh Phuoc, Vinh Tho and Vinh Ngoc Commune. The plant is located in western Southern  Hon Nghe, Vinh Ngoc Commune in a total area of ​​more than 3ha with an expected capacity of 7,500 15,000m3/day.

According to the approved environmental license granted by the Provincial People’s Committee on May 14, environmental monitoring will be conducted. According to Truong Cao Huy Vu, Chief of Project Management Department 2, Provincial Development Project Management Board, the wastewater treatment process includes many stages from collection, physical, biological, tertiary and disinfection.

When the project is completed, the Provincial Development Project Management Board will coordinate with authorities in propaganda to mobilize residents and businesses to renovate their wastewater drainage systems with sedimentation tanks connected to the wastewater collection system to the northern wastewater treatment plant.

Making plan on sewer connection

Up to now, the wastewater treatment plant has completed the microbiological culture and gradually received wastewater from the PS5 pumping station for trial operation with 1,500m3 to 2,500m3/day.

The Provincial Development Project Management Board is making a plan to coordinate with Nha Trang City People's Committee and the City Public Service Management Board to develop technical maintenance, transfer and sewer connection.

Specifically, the training, operation and maintenance and technological transfer are on August 5 - 30; project file handover on September 1-15; the asset handover from September 16 to October 15. From August 15 to October 15, the board will work with the City People's Committee and the Public Service Management Board to propagate, and give instructions related to the sewer connection for households within the project site.

The construction of Waste water treatment plant in northern Nha Trang City started on December 3, 2021 and came into use on June 30,2024 with a total project value of over VND302.8 billion.

The plant work items include a grease tank, sludge dewatering chamber, sludge storage tank, sludge pumping station, distribution chamber, oxygen ditch, deodorizing device stand, clean water pumping station, UV sterilization tank, grit removal, sedimentation tanks, construction worker dorms, etc.
