Implemented at many workplaces
Two- or three-classified dustbins are put at local offices, ports and State agenies in Nha Trang City. In Van Thanh Ward, along with installing classified dustbins, the ward has established propaganda teams, offering 24kg of biodegradable garbage bags; and distribute home waste classification propaganda leaflets to households.
At Nha Trang Tourist Port, there are currently 10 triple trash bins for solid waste. Dam Hai Van, Deputy Head of Nha Trang Bay Management Board said, "The trash bins have 3 compartments marked with different colors for recyclable waste, food waste and others, helping to raise compliance with environmental protection laws and develop habits in classifying solid waste among businesses, residents and tourists."
“The trash bins placed at Nha Trang Tourist Port are colorful and eye-catching with labels in in Vietnamese and English. I think that waste classification is an effective way to recycle waste while ensuring the cleanliness of Nha Trang Bay," said Dang Tung Lam, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Ho Thi Hai, Head of Nha Trang City Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the department has developed a plan to implement waste classification at the source; equipped workplaces with 2-compartment trash bins, and provided instructions on waste classification to reduce plastic waste and promote the use of reusable and environmentally friendly products.
Towards domestic solid waste classified at 100% of tourism businesses
According to Le Dai Duong, Vice-Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee, implementing the directives of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing the plastic-free campaign in the province; and developing green living and green tourism in the Project "Green transformation, green growth of Nha Trang City in the period of 2024 - 2030"..., Nha Trang City People's Committee issued a plan on implementing domestic solid waste classification on July 8. Besides, Nha Trang City People's Committee issued a plan on domestic solid waste classification at the source and a campaign against disposable plastics for tourism businesses. Accordingly, the plan includes environmental propaganda and punishment for administrative violations in environmental protection at tourist businesses, thereby gradually changing behaviors and limiting the use of disposable plastic products at work and in daily life.
The city also recommends that tourism businesses have plans to replace and limit single-use plastic products with environmentally friendly ones that can be reused and recycled and disseminate solid waste classification.
From 2025 onwards, 100% of communes, wards and towns in the Nha Trang City are required to have household solid waste classified at the source; coordinate with the Public Service Management Board, Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company or any other domestic solid waste collection and transportation facilities to ensure effective, economical and suitable collection of domestic solid waste after classified.
