Interesting experiences at Vinh Luong Fishing Port

In Nha Trang City, there is an interesting destination that many tourists have visited in recent years. That is Vinh Luong Fishing Port, a very suitable place for those who love discovery, especially those who live in areas without sea.

For over 20 years, since Nha Trang built Tran Phu Bridge and Pham Van Dong Road leading to Luong Son, I can't remember how many times I've taken my friends to this fishing port for sightseeing. Sometimes by car, sometimes by motorbike, and every time Vinh Luong Fishing Port has left many impressions on my friends.

The 15km road from the city center to Vinh Luong Fishing Port is a very beautiful route. I remember one time a friend from Tay Ninh came to Nha Trang to visit and asked me to take him to fishing port. Departing early in the morning, sitting in the back, my friend kept admiring as the car passed through winding curves with mountains on one side and the sea on the other, in the middle of the sky that was not yet fully light, with thin layers of mist still hanging around.

Then, not long after, Vinh Luong Fishing Port appeared. The sky gradually brightened, the whole vast space seemed to be awakened by the sun in the east, like a ball of fire slowly rising from the water surface, then everything seemed to change, brightening with the warm rays of the morning sun flooding in. The port gradually became crowded and bustling with cars and motorbikes of all kinds coming from all over the streets to buy and sell fish.

The boats that set sail a few days ago are now arriving one after another. Having been invested in and upgraded, Vinh Luong Fishing Port is quite spacious, convenient for a large number of ships and boats not only from the province but also from neighboring provinces such as Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, etc. to dock. This place has long been considered a major seafood wholesale market of Khanh Hoa for traders to transport goods to all over the province and the region. My friend was delighted by the bustling, hurried scene of people bringing fish, squid, shrimp, snails, etc. from boats to docks. Plastic baskets full of fresh fish were placed on scales, covered with ice, and continuously transferred to trucks, an image he had never seen before.

The interesting thing is that in Vinh Luong, along the road to the port, there are many people selling very fresh seafood. Here, it is not difficult to find live shrimp, sea tiger prawns, fish, crabs... swimming in large tubs and basins. Customers can buy as much as they want. Familiar fish such as: mackerel, tuna, pomfret, hairtail, scad..., as well as squid, cuttlefish, and cuttlefish are sold in abundance. In particular, there are baskets of snails, big and small, arranged next to each other, looking very attractive. Because he had never seen sea snails before, my friend was curious and wanted to learn more. The owners of the stalls were all happy, not only explaining to customers the names of each type but also instructing how to prepare them, such as jumping snails if steamed with lemongrass and dipped in salt, pepper and lemon, the meat will be both chewy and crispy; grilled star fruit snails with salt and chili will be chewy, and taste like beef tendon; If you want delicious cockles, stir-fry them with garlic, snails stir-fry them with tamarind…

Every day, offshore ships return to Vinh Luong Fishing Port twice, one in the early morning and the other around 3-4 pm. The atmosphere of work and trade here on the second visit is just as bustling as the first visit, sometimes even more crowded because many city residents know that the seafood at the port is fresh, delicious, and cheap, so in the afternoon they go to the suburbs to play and then stop by to buy seafood to bring home. A few times when I took my friends to the port in the afternoon, I even met foreign visitors who came to learn and see how the lifestyle at a fishing port in our country is different from that in their home country. Some people even filmed and asked to take pictures with the workers on the ship, or took pictures of the fish tanks as souvenirs.

Another interesting thing is that in the areas surrounding Vinh Luong Fishing Port, there are many shops selling delicious, rustic dishes made from fresh seafood such as banh canh, bun ca, banh xeo, banh can, boiled snails, etc. This place also preserves relics associated with the cultural life of an old coastal fishing village.

Along with resort tourism, cultural - historical tourism, eco-tourism, sports tourism, entertainment tourism, adventure tourism, culinary tourism, teambuilding tourism..., experiential tourism is a concept that has been widely popularized in many countries and territories today. Tourism agencies and organizations around the world as well as tourists are very interested in this type, in which learning and exploring the picture of labor and trade at a fishing port is a very necessary need for many people. Located near the center of Nha Trang City, Vinh Luong Fishing Port is a convenient facility to meet the above content. Besides the pass road from the city to Luong Son, in the surrounding area there are many beautiful landscapes that always attract tourists. Therefore, in the coming time, promoting and introducing Vinh Luong Fishing Port to become a tourist destination is very necessary. This will enrich and diversify the addresses on the tourist map, contributing to creating more attraction for tourists to the city.
