Nha Trang aims to green and sustainable development

Located on the East Sea coast, Nha Trang City is a land of many captivating beauties. After 100 years of construction and development (1924 - 2024), Nha Trang is gradually becoming a dynamic tourist city, aiming to build a sustainable urban area rich in cultural identity, contributing to the early realization of the goal of turning Khanh Hoa province into a centrally-governed city by 2030.

In 2024, with the efforts of the entire political system, the consensus of businesses and people, the socio-economic development of Nha Trang City has developed strongly. 23/23 socio-economic targets of the city have fulfilled and exceeded. It is estimated that in the past year, the city welcomed about 7.95 million overnight visitors; including 3.4 million international ones. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 38,300 billion, reaching 139.9% of the plan, up 58.88% compared to 2023. Industrial production, exploitation and seafood processing activities also developed steadily. The value of industrial production in the city is estimated at VND 35,608 billion, up 6.86%; the value of agricultural and forestry production is estimated at VND 2,770 billion, up 5.51%. Total retail sales of consumer goods and services reached VND 64,800 billion, up 20.1%. Budget revenue reached VND 1,950 billion (exceeding the estimate by 5%)...

Development of Nha Trang is not only numbers but also evidenced by the liveliness and freshness of the tourism picture; major cultural - sports and entertainment events organized (a series of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the construction and development of Nha Trang City, Ever Glamour Nha Trang 2024 ...); investment in urban infrastructure development, new rural construction, and changes in people's lives. During the year, Nha Trang City People's Committee focused on directing departments, offices and units to speed up the progress of compensation and site clearance for key projects in the city; approved the investment policy to build Phu Kieng bridge with a budget of about 600 billion VND (expected to be constructed in 2025) to meet the expectations of the people. The city has effectively implemented Resolution No. 18 of the Nha Trang City Party Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership in the management of land, minerals, construction order and urban order and beauty. From October 2024, the city has piloted the classification of household waste at source and not used disposable plastic products, hard-to-decompose nylon bags; collected separately recyclable and reusable waste. Since then, the situation of dumping garbage at the wrong time and place has been limited; urban order and beauty have been improved, contributing significantly to building the image of Nha Trang as a "civilized city - friendly citizens". Along with economic development, social security regimes for the people have been implemented promptly and fully according to regulations; the fields of culture and education continue to receive attention, people's lives have been improved. In particular, with the efforts and determination of the entire political system and the participation of the whole society, Nha Trang City has done a good job in poverty reduction, and to date the city has no poor households.

In 2024, the Prime Minister approved the Project to adjust the General Planning of Nha Trang City to 2040 with the orientation: building Nha Trang to develop sustainably, as a core urban area, a key economic zone of Khanh Hoa, soon becoming an international tourism center, and at the same time a leading research and innovation center of Vietnam associated with a friendly living environment, rich in human values. According to the approved plan, the model and urban structure of the city is organized as a multi-center urban area, focusing on the coastal urban strip and centers associated with landscape areas, main urban axes, and specific ecosystems; develop and expand urban construction space to the north, northwest, west, south and east towards the sea in Vinh Luong, Phuoc Dong and on the islands. On that basis, the city has deployed the establishment of 26 zoning planning projects.

In 2025, Nha Trang City will focus on synchronously implementing solutions and tasks to effectively organize the implementation of Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045; strive to achieve the highest goals and tasks of socio-economic development in 2025 (state budget revenue in the area of 2,250 billion VND); ensure social security, sustainable poverty reduction, improve the quality of people's lives, ensure political security, social order and safety.

The city also focuses on effectively implementing the Project "Green transformation and green growth of Nha Trang city in the period of 2024 - 2030" with priority given to developing construction works that meet green standards; investment projects with advanced technology, using clean energy, optimizing and effectively exploiting natural resources, combating climate change; encourage green production and consumption... At the same time, the city focuses on investing in urban infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, digital infrastructure, urban beautification, waste treatment using pyrolysis technology... to meet the requirements of building Nha Trang into a smart city, aiming for green and sustainable development, contributing to the early completion of the goal of turning Khanh Hoa province into a centrally-run city according to Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo".
