Khanh Hoa promoting Taiwanese tourist market

The Taiwanese tourist market has great potential and is growing well. Khanh Hoa tourism industry is stepping up promotion to attract visitors from Taiwan.

Efforts to exploit potential markets

The Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association has just coordinated with the Lam Dong - Da Lat Tourism Association, Vietnam Airlines, and Hoang Tra Tourism and Trading Company Limited to organize a survey and promotion program for Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong tourism in Taipei and Kaohsiung of Taiwan (China). Accompanying the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association were businesses: TUI BLUE Nha Trang Hotel, Potique Nha Trang, Yang Bay Tourist Park, Hoang Tram Agarwood cultural conservation area... The program's main activities are to survey tourism products and services and organize roadshows in Taipei and Kaohsiung. Khanh Hoa tourism businesses had the opportunity to introduce destinations, update information, new tourism products and Khanh Hoa's tourism stimulus program to expand the tourist market in Taiwan. "During the recent promotion trip, Taiwanese travel businesses were very interested in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism. They highly appreciated the attractiveness of Khanh Hoa tourism such as good quality resort services, many golf courses, nice weather...", said Truong Minh Toan - General Manager of Potique Nha Trang Hotel.

According to Pham Minh Nhut - Chairman of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, Taiwanese tourists love beach resorts, golf... which are the strengths of Khanh Hoa. Therefore, the provincial tourism industry is coordinating with major travel agencies to promote attracting Taiwanese tourists to Khanh Hoa. At the end of October 2024, a famtrip delegation of Taiwanese travel agencies (22 people) came to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa to survey tourism. During the program, the delegation surveyed resorts in Bai Dai (Cam Lam district) and Nha Trang, visited VinWonders Nha Trang entertainment area and historical sites and scenic spots in Nha Trang such as Po Nagar Tower, Hon Chong, Nha Trang Cathedral... In particular, the delegation spent a lot of time surveying KN Golf Links Cam Ranh golf courses, Vinpearl golf course (Hon Tre island) and Diamond Bay Nha Trang golf course to organize golf tours for Taiwanese tourists. Currently, Taiwan (China) is the third largest international tourist market of Vietnam tourism with 1.28 million visitors in 2024, an increase of 51% compared to 2023. In the first 4 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed more than 440,000 Taiwanese visitors. In Khanh Hoa alone, in 2024, the province welcomed more than 17,700 Taiwanese visitors; in the first 4 months of 2025, the figure was more than 12,300 visitors, an increase of 239.8% compared to the same period in 2024.

More direct flights needed

Despite the great potential, there are few direct flights from Taiwan to Cam Ranh. “Previously, Taiwanese airlines such as Starlux Airlines and Tigerair Taiwan intended to open a direct flight from Taipei to Cam Ranh, but for many reasons, they have not yet done it. The company still has to cooperate with Vietjet Air to organize charter flights to bring Taiwanese tourists to Khanh Hoa for vacation with a frequency of 3 flights/2 weeks, with about 800 - 1,000 passengers/month. It is expected that by October 2025, more flights will be added,” said Ho My Lan - Head of Operations of Hoang Tra Tourism and Trading Company Limited in Nha Trang. Hoang Tra Tourism and Trading Company Limited recently signed a contract with Vietnam Airlines to buy group tickets (series tickets) to organize tours for Taiwanese tourists to travel to Khanh Hoa, but the passengers have to transit at Tan Son Nhat airport. Some other companies such as PCO Travel Co., Ltd., BBK Tourism Trading and Service Co., Ltd.... also bring tourists to Khanh Hoa, so the number of Taiwanese tourists will increase in the coming time.

Although there are positive signs, to promote attracting Taiwanese tourists, there must be more direct flights from major cities such as Taipei and Kaohsiung to Cam Ranh. It is best to open commercial flights because currently, charter flights organized by travel agencies are few, tourists arrive in Cam Ranh at night, and connecting flights have limitations... "Taiwanese tourists tend to travel more independently. They prioritize high-quality experiences and often pay special attention to culture, cuisine, as well as eco-tourism and resort activities, golfing, so many tourists prefer to travel freely rather than on a pre-arranged tour", Truong Minh Toan expressed.
