The Government has issued Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP on visa exemption under the Tourism Development Stimulus Program for citizens of 12 countries.
Accordingly, citizens of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland will be allowed to stay in Vietnam for up to 45 days from their date of arrival for tourism purposes, regardless of passport type, provided that they meet Vietnam’s entry requirements. The measure takes effect from August 15, 2025, until August 14, 2028.
The Government also issued Decree No. 221/2025/ND-CP regulating temporary visa exemption for foreigners who are expected to make a distinguished contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
They include high-ranking guests of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State, scholars, scientists, professors, chief engineers and top-tier digital technology experts, investors and senior executives of major global enterprises; honorary consuls of Vietnam abroad and others for foreign affairs purposes or serving socio-economic development decided by the Minister of Public Security based on agencies and organizations' proposals.
According to the new decree, eligible individuals will be granted visa waiver cards for multiple entries, which can be valid up to 5 years and must be at least 30 days shorter than the passports' remaining validity.
