Developing Van Ninh commune and surrounding areas into high-class coastal tourism urban area

With its strategic location and great potential, convenient transportation, Van Ninh commune and surrounding areas have all the ideal conditions to build and develop the marine economy and tourism. In the coming time, with the right orientation and mechanisms and policies of the Central and the province, this place will soon become a high-class coastal tourism urban area.

Located in the north of the province, Van Ninh commune has a natural area of ​​130.46km² with a population of more than 54,000 people. According to Decision No. 298, dated March 27, 2023 of the Prime Minister approving the Adjustment of the General Planning for the Construction of Van Phong Economic Zone to 2040, with a vision to 2050, Van Ninh commune belongs to Sub-zone 10 and Sub-zone 11. In which, Sub-zone 11 has an area of ​​about 3,338 hectares, including a land area of ​​about 2,666 hectares and a water surface area of ​​about 672 hectares. The old Van Gia town area with an urban construction land area of ​​about 300 hectares, has a clear urban structure towards the sea, the technical infrastructure system is gradually completed, playing a central role in Sub-zone 10 and Sub-zone 11.

Nguyen Thanh Son - Chairman of Van Ninh Commune People's Committee said: The commune has advantages in natural conditions, temperate climate, rich ecosystem, coastline stretching through the commune and neighboring areas of about 60km (6km through the commune alone). The traffic system is conveniently connected to National Highway 1, North-South Expressway, North-South Railway, high-speed railway (prepared for investment) running through the area. The commune also has a general port with inland waterways connecting from the commune center to the islands in Van Phong Bay, near Van Phong International Airport (planned in Van Thang commune). Along with that, the Coastal Road Project from Van Luong Commune, Van Ninh District to Ninh Hoa Town (old) has a total length of 20.478km, passing through the commune area of ​​2.56km, after completion will connect to the coastal road system and projects: Van Gia Town Coastal Embankment, Huyen 2 Bridge and access road, Van Gia Town Coastal Park (old). The relocation and resettlement of the area east of Tran Hung Dao Street, the embankment protecting both sides of Ba Buong River... creates favorable conditions for tourism development, lays the foundation for implementing the renovation of the urban and traffic system towards Van Phong Bay and developing the coastal area into public spaces. These are outstanding advantages for developing high-class sea tourism and resorts. In addition, Van Ninh commune and neighboring communes such as Van Hung, Van Thang, Tu Bong, Dai Lanh attract many strategic investors to develop key industries such as seaports, tourism and high technology. A series of large-scale projects have been implemented such as: Bai Cat Tham tourist area with an investment capital of more than VND 25,000 billion; Tu Bong new urban area: ​​more than VND 42,000 billion; Bai Ong Hao tourist area: ​​VND 53 billion; Bai Ong Nghi tourist area: ​​VND 149.5 billion; Bac Van Phong general port: more than USD 20 million; Doc Da Trang industrial park: VND 1,800 billion; Co Ma high-class new urban area:​​more than VND 4,884 billion; Dam Mon high-class new urban area: ​​VND 25,543 billion... These are important premises to form a high-class tourism ecosystem, synchronous in infrastructure and services, creating a boost for socio-economic development for the whole region.

On January 28, 2022, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 09 on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045, with the goal of building and developing Khanh Hoa into a centrally-run city. In particular, developing Van Phong Economic Zone to become a driving force for the development of the province and the South Central region with specific mechanisms and policies based on the potential and advantages of tourism, international transit ports associated with logistics services, trade, and high-tech industry. At the same time, building the communes of Van Ninh, Van Hung, Van Thang, Tu Bong, and Dai Lanh into high-class coastal tourism cities is not only a strategic goal of the province but also an important step to realize the Central's orientations.

Tran Anh Tuan - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Van Ninh commune said: To realize the above goals, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and departments, branches and sectors need to pay attention and support the locality to effectively implement breakthrough solutions for sustainable and effective development; in particular, taking advantage of and effectively applying specific mechanisms and policies according to Resolution No. 55, dated June 16, 2022 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Khanh Hoa province to create favorable conditions for strategic investors to speed up the progress of projects. Along with that, the province needs to promote and advertise the image of local tourism to international markets, especially high-end tourist markets, combining environmental protection policies with the implementation of the province's Green Transformation Project for the period 2024 - 2030. The province needs to pay attention to reviewing and approving zoning plans and detailed plans to serve as a legal basis for attracting and implementing investment projects; soon complete the planning of Van Phong Economic Zone and neighboring areas in the direction of high-end tourism development; prioritize attracting strategic investors with financial potential and experience in developing international-scale urban and tourism projects. Priority areas include: high-end new urban areas, complex resort tourism areas and clean energy and high-tech projects. In addition, the province needs to promote investment in construction and upgrading of synchronous infrastructure systems, especially the traffic system connecting expressways, coastal roads, seaports and airports; speed up the implementation of Van Phong Airport and develop tourist ports in Van Phong to welcome international cruise ships; focus on building unique, high-end, highly competitive tourism products such as resort tourism combined with health care, sea sports tourism, eco-discovery and cultural tourism; strengthen the training of high-quality tourism human resources; promote the development of logistics services, especially air transport and sea transport to support tourism and trade activities...

With methodical steps, harmonizing development and conservation, Van Ninh commune and neighboring areas promise to be a bright spot on the high-end tourism map of Vietnam and the region.
