Strengthening promotion and advertising

Malaysia, with a population of approximately 35.5 million people and an average per capita income of about US$12,000, is a promising market for Vietnamese tourism in general and Khanh Hoa in particular. In recent years, the number of Malaysian tourists visiting Vietnam has increased significantly. In the first 11 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed over 510,000 tourists, a 15.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Khanh Hoa province alone received 15,100 tourists, a 30.6% increase. Currently, there are four weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to Cam Ranh, making it easier to attract Malaysian tourists. A Malaysian famtrip group arrived at Cam Ranh International Airport.

Cung Quynh Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, assessed: “Vietnam and Malaysia are two ASEAN countries with a long-standing and friendly cooperative relationship. Malaysia is currently Vietnam's second largest source market for tourists in ASEAN (after Cambodia); the number of tourists visiting Vietnam is growing steadily. The potential for cooperation between Khanh Hoa tourism and Malaysian travel agencies is enormous. We believe that after this meeting and cooperation, the number of Malaysian tourists visiting Khanh Hoa will increase significantly.”

Pham Minh Nhut - Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, also believes that the results of the survey will serve as a basis for Malaysian travel businesses to update new tourism products and services into tour programs that suit the needs and trends of the Malaysian market, thereby attracting more tourists from this market to Khanh Hoa in the future. The feedback from Malaysian travel businesses will also help Khanh Hoa tourism adjust its services and products to suit this market. This cooperation will not only strengthen two-way tourist exchanges but also attract tourism from third countries to Khanh Hoa via Kuala Lumpur.

At a recent meeting, Malaysian travel businesses and Khanh Hoa tourism businesses discussed solutions to attract Malaysian tourists to Khanh Hoa. Accordingly, to achieve this, Khanh Hoa tourism needs to capitalize on its strengths in natural beauty, diverse cuisine (especially street food), rich culture, and shopping activities. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen travel cooperation and increase information promotion to the Malaysian market; in the long term, adjustments to products are needed to suit the Malaysian tourist market.
