Whale Worshipping Ceremony performed on streets in Nha Trang City

Nha Trang City People’s Committee on March 14 organized Whale Worshipping Ceremony in celebration of 100 years of construction and development of Nha Trang City (1924 - 2024) and 15th year since Nha Trang was recognized as class 1 municipality under Khanh Hoa Province (April 22, 2009 - April 22, 2024). Present at the event were Ho Van Mung - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Nha Trang City Party Committee; Dinh Van Thieu – Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and the leaders of the provincial departments, sectors and Nha Trang City.

More than 200 fishermen from the wards of Vinh Nguyen and Vinh Truong, artisans and artists in Nha Trang City joined the festival. The festival started with the processions of the Whale along Tran Phu Street. The procession featured the performances of unicorn and dragon dances, Ba Trao singing, ritual dances, etc. At the main stage at 2-4 Square, the participants performed the opening acts and other ritual activities of the festival.

Whale Worshipping Ceremony shows the beauties of fishing areas in the forms of traditional performances and ritual acts, etc. The organization of the ceremony aims to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the values of the country’s traditional cultural characteristics, especially the unique festival of the fishermen in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa.
