Cam Lam - Vinh Hao Motorway opens to traffic

Cam Lam - Vinh Hao Motorway officially opened to traffic on April 28. The inauguration ceremony was held in the northern area of Vung mountain tunnel in Tra No Village, Phuoc Ha Commune, Thuan Nam District, Ninh Thuan Province.

Present at the event were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang; Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung; Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh; Secretary of Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Thanh; Secretary of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hoai Anh.

Khanh Hoa Provincial leaders attending the ceremony were Nguyen Hai Ninh, Central Party Committee Member, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; and Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

The project is invested by the venture of Deo Ca Company and 194 Construction Investment Corporation Joint Stock Company. The project is one of the 3 North-South motorway constructions invested under public-private partnerships (PPPs) with a length of 78.5km running through the 3 provinces of Khanh Hoa (nearly 5km), Ninh Thuan (63km) and Binh Thuan (nearly 12km).

The motorway has its starting point at Km 54+00 connecting with Nha Trang - Cam Lam Motorway and the end point at Km 134+00 connecting to Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Motorway. The project has a total investment of VND8,925 billion.

On the route, there is a 2.2km Vung mountain tunnel with 3 lanes, 14 meter wide. This is the 4th largest road tunnel in the country after Hai Van tunnel, Deo Ca tunnel and Cu Mong tunnel implemented by Deo Ca Group.

Cam Lam - Vinh Hao Motorway has completed 70km of roads, 35 bridges, 2 intersections, 69km of collector roads, 2.25km of tunnels, along with equipment and ITS.. Vietnam Road Administration agreed that Deo Ca Traffic Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (HHV) is the operation and maintenance management unit of the project.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Cam Lam - Vinh Hao motorway connects the motorway from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, shortening the existing travel time by half and contributing to creating a driving force for the national socio-economic development.

According to Le Quynh Mai, Deputy CEO of Deo Ca Group, Deo Ca Group and Corporation 194 had had overcome difficulties to complete the project. When the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao project was completed, the project opened to traffic on April 26 to serve increased travel demand during the national holiday. Solar-powered surveillance cameras and an intelligent transportation system (ITS) on the route are installed to save power consumption, reduce costs and protect the environment.

In addition, the project investor proactively spent money on the construction of temporary rest stops on the route to serve people for free before the investment in official rest stops is approved by the Ministry of Transport.

Cam Lam - Vinh Hao Motorway runs through Cam Thinh Tay Commune, Cam Ranh City.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the great efforts and close coordination of ministries, agencies, localities, project management boards, investors and contractors; workers; as well as gave special thanks to resident engagement and support.

In addition to the 2,157km North-South Motorway in the East, East-West axis, Central Highlands axis, Southwest axis projects are also being implemented. The country is expected to meet the goal of 3,000 km of motorway by 2025 and 5,000 km by 2030.
