Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway inaugurated

The Ministry of Construction jointly with Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee on April 19 inaugurated and put 70.35km of Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway section at the North-South expressway section in Ninh Xuan Commune (Ninh Hoa Town) into operation along with the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies of key projects across Vietnam to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2025).

Present at the event were Ho Duc Phoc, Deputy Prime Minister; Nghiem Xuan Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Provincial People’s Committee; Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Construction; and Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

According to the Project Management Board 7, Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway project with a total capital of VND11,808 billion is 83.35km long, starting at Km285+000, the intersection of Co Ma Tunnel, Van Tho Commune (Van Ninh District); ending at Km368+000, the intersection with the National Highway 27C in Dien Tho Commune (Dien Khanh District), connecting with Nha Trang - Cam Lam Expressway.

Starting in January 2023, the project was scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. However, with the efforts of the investor, contractor and local authorities, the final construction of more than 70km (from the intersection with National Highway 27C to Van Gia intersection) has been completed. Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway of Class A standard is designed to have 4 lanes, 17m wide, at a speed of 80 - 120km/h in the phase.

The construction is expected to make an important contribution to the completion of 3,000km of expressways by 2025 according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, promoting economic development, increasing regional connectivity, reducing the load on the National Highway 1A and supporting tourism and logistics development in the South Central region.

After the inauguration ceremony, the 70.35km expressway section will be put into operation with a maximum speed of 90km/h and a minimum of 60km/h in the current phase.

The project is expected to open up new development opportunities, support the growth of urban areas, industrial parks and service hubs, facilitate investment promotion, reduce logistics costs and boost the economic competitiveness.
