Early voice in press history
On the 50 years of Khanh Hoa News, late General Secretary Do Muoi sent a congratulatory letter, saying "As one of the earliest local Party newspapers published in our country, Khanh Hoa Newspaper, after half a century of construction and development, has made important contributions to the revolutionary cause of Khanh Hoa people."
In mid-April 1946, at the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee's expanded conference in Dai Dien Dong Village (Dien Khanh District), the provincial leaders focused on the urgent need to establish a newspaper of the local Party Committee to support the resistance effort. One year later, in April 1947, Khanh Hoa News, originally named Thang Newspaper, published its first edition in Hon Du war zone, Khanh Vinh District, marking the emergence of Khanh Hoa Province's revolutionary press.
During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, depending on historical periods, the original Thang Newspaper underwent several name changes: Thong Tin (1951 - 1954), Gio Moi (1954 - 1956), Khanh Hoa Giai Phong (1965 - 1975). After the Great 1975 Spring Victory, the newspaper entered a new era, accompanying people in building socialism across the newly liberated homeland. In November 1975, Phu Khanh Newspaper emerged from Khanh Hoa Giai Phong and Phu Yen Giai Phong, following the merging of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa into Phu Khanh Province.
In July 1989, Phu Khanh Province was divided into two provinces, Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen. Khanh Hoa Newspaper published its first issue on July 1, 1989, continuing to uphold tradition while closely reflecting local life and political priorities. The newspaper gradually increased its weekly publication to 4 times a week by 2001, 5 times a week in 2005 and then 6 times a week with 12 pages since April 2, 2009.
Half a century marking radio and television
On April 3, 1975, Khanh Hoa Radio Station was officially established and made its first broadcast. This was an important milestone, marking the emergence of an official information channel in the province. On December 15, 1976, with the support of the local government and Ho Chi Minh City Television, the construction and re-broadcasting of Nha Trang Television was completed on the basis of the old station that existed before 1975.
During 19 years (1975 - 1994), Khanh Hoa Radio and Nha Trang Television operated independently, taking on separate roles in providing information. Khanh Hoa Television (KTV) was officially merged and established on January 1, 1995, combining Khanh Hoa Radio Station and Nha Trang Television Station. Over the past 30 years, KTV has expanded in both scale and quality, achieving significant milestones in broadcasting.
Since 2012, KTV has been broadcasting 24 hours a day on television and 18 hours and 30 minutes on radio. Through a system of relay stations and radio and television stations, along with more than 137 radio stations, KTV's radio and television waves have covered more than 95% of the province. During that time, KTV has focused on investing in facilities and technology. KTV's programs were broadcast on many platforms such as Vinasat 2 satellite, AVG, MyTV, SDTV, HTVC, FPT Play, Viettel Internet cable TV, along with live streaming on its website.
