Green Tourism Standards announced

Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony on June 11 to announce the Green Tourism Standards of Khanh Hoa Province.

Present at the event were Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, representatives of VinUni University and representatives of many businesses in the province.

Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Thieu and leaders of the tourism industry pressed the button to announce the Green Tourism Standards of Khanh Hoa Province.

Khanh Hoa Province's Green Tourism Standards comprise 2 specific sets of standards for 2 main groups: tourist attractions and accommodation establishments. The Green Tourism Standards for tourist accommodation establishments include criteria for greenhouse gas emission (18 criteria) and green action (84 criteria). The Green Tourism Standards for tourist attractions include criteria for greenhouse gas emission (10 criteria) and green action (90 criteria).

In addition to the Green Tourism Standards for accommodation establishments and tourist attractions, the Green Tourism Standards for Khanh Hoa Province also introduced a Handbook for implementing green tourism and an app for managing and evaluating green tourism standards.

A representative of VinUni University presents the Handbook for the implementation of the Green Tourism Standards of Khanh Hoa Province to the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Green Tourism Standards are implemented on a voluntary basis, encouraging the participation of businesses. Using the app provided by the Evaluation Council, units will self-assess their activities through questionnaires aligned with the criteria of the standards.

The evaluation council will base on the self-assessment results and their evidence to propose the Provincial People's Committee to issue green tourism standard certificates (valid for 3 years) at 3 levels: Basic, Advanced and Excellent. This initiative aims to support the development of Khanh Hoa Province as a sustainable and appealing tourist destination.
