2024 OCOP Program attracts many good-quality products

This year, the whole Khanh Hoa province has 185 products registered to participate in the One Commune One Product (OCOP)  Program. This is a very encouraging number. To encourage participants in the program, products with OCOP stars will be rewarded.

In 2024, the whole province has 185 products from 96 participants, increasing in both quantity and quality. This year's OCOP program aims to upgrade, standardize, and complete at least 100 products with 3 stars or higher. Van Ninh, Ninh Hoa, Dien Khanh, Nha Trang and Khanh Son have at least 2 products achieving 4 stars to achieve the goal of the whole province having at least 10 4-star OCOP products,one  of which is qualified for being proposed by the Central Government for recognition of 5 stars.

Nguyen Le Van - a participant in the OCOP Program in Ninh Tan commune (Ninh Hoa town) said that in 2022 and 2023, POMGROUP Production, Trade and Service Joint Stock Company has 9 herbal tea products and bird nest drinks achieving 4 OCOP stars and 4 products achieving 3 OCOP stars. In 2024, the company will improve its products to upgrade 3-star products to 4 stars.


This year, Ninh Hoa and Van Ninh have a large number of participating products, 37 products each; Dien Khanh: 24 products; Cam Lam, Khanh Son, Nha Trang and Khanh Vinh: 18 - 24 products; Cam Ranh: 6 products. In the list of participating products, most are newly registered, some products are registered to be upgraded.


According to Dinh Cong Thuan - Deputy Director of the Rural Development Department, products participating in the 2024 OCOP Program are classified into 6 groups, including foodstuff, drinks, medicinal herbs and products from medicinal herbs; crafts, ornamental creatures, community tourism products, ecotourism and tourist attractions.

This year, the province encourages tourism products and services of local origin, featuring cultural values and local advantages; especially regional specialty products, craft village products, and tourism services. This year, in the province, many tourism service points in rural areas have registered to participate in the OCOP Program. 

To encourage and motivate participants in the program, in early April, the Provincial People's Committee decided to provide localities with a targeted amount of nearly 800 million VND to spend on prizes for products achieving 3 stars or more in the OCOP Program in 2023. Specifically, in 2023, the whole province had 99 products achieving 3 stars or more, including 4 products with 4 stars and 1 product with points to recommend to be  recognized as 5 stars OCOP. 


According to the leaders of the Rural Development Department, no later than the third quarter, the OCOP Program will complete receiving product ideas, production and business plans, and implementing business plans. Products will be evaluated and classified in the first phase in August and September, and the second phase at the end of 2024. This year, the provincial budget spends more than 13.6 billion VND mainly to support participants to develop products, such as packaging design, product labels; registering of codes, barcodes, electronic stamps, origin traceability system; testing food safety and nutritional indicators; building websites, product stories, quality management systems HACCP, VietGAP...
