Proactive response to Typhoon Kalmaegi

On November 5, Khanh Hoa provincial delegation led by Nguyen Khac Toan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Provincial Civil Defense Steering Committee, conducted an inspection and review of proactive response measures to Typhoon Kalmaegi in the communes and wards of Dai Lanh, Bac Ninh Hoa, Dong Ninh Hoa, and Hoa Thang; and worked with the leaders of 13 communes and wards: Dai Lanh, Tu Bong, Van Thang, Van Ninh, Van Hung, Bac Ninh Hoa, Ninh Hoa, Hoa Thang, Hoa Tri, Tay Ninh Hoa, Dong Ninh Hoa, Nam Ninh Hoa and Tan Dinh on typhoon response efforts.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Khac Toan, emphasized the importance of proactive measures to prevent and mitigate the impacts of Typhoon Kalmaegi. These include the preparation of essential equipment and supplies, and readiness for evacuation to safe areas. He urged local authorities and relevant agencies to implement timely and effective response measures to ensure public safety and minimize damage caused by heavy rain and severe weather conditions. Key priorities include preventing landslides, addressing inland flooding, deploying guards at areas prone to deep inundation, guiding residents in reinforcing their homes, stockpiling essential goods, and inspecting drainage systems and water reservoirs. Reservoir management units were instructed to operate and regulate water levels appropriately, maintain close monitoring, and issue timely warnings.

Additionally, weather forecasts and storm updates must be promptly provided to local authorities and relevant units to support rapid implementation of response plans. Localities were also guided to proactively adopt measures to reduce damage to agricultural production; protect lives and properties and ensure safety and security before, during and after the natural disaster.
