Present at the opening ceremony were Dinh Van Thieu, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and head of the steering committee of the festival; the leaders of the provincial departments of education and training, culture and sports; agencies and sectors; and over 3,000 players, officials, leaders, and staff of local bureaus of education and training, and high schools over the province.

Khanh Hoa Province’s 2023-2024 school year Phu Dong sports festival takes place from March 27 to April 5, joined by 2,682 primary school, junior high school and high school pupils from 41 teams of the bureaus of education and training and high schools in the province. The players compete for 177 sets of medals for individuals, groups and teams in 11 events including athletics, swimming, physical exercise, chess, badminton, shuttlecock kicking, table tennis, football, volleyball, basketball, and stick pushing.

Khanh Hoa Province’s Phu Dong sports festival is organized every 4 years to promote sports movement in schools and encourage pupils to practice physical exercise and sports to improve their health. The 2023-2024 school year Phu Dong sports festival also serves as a playground to discover gifted players for the provincial sports teams to prepare for the regional Phu Dong festival (scheduled to take place in Quang Nam Province in June) and national Phu Dong festival (planned to take place Hai Phong Province in July).
